The Most Frequently Asked
Questions
1. Will my eyes be dilated?
All of our patients' eyes are dilated regularly to evaluate the peripheral retina where
rare eye diseases hide. We can schedule that part of your examination at your convenience,
usually after 5 PM.
2. What does an eye examination cost?
The first time a patient visits most any office the fees are a bit higher for obvious
reasons. For example, established patients save the office time and supplies which save
money. A comprehensive wellness medical exanimation will cost as low as $80. That includes innumerable tests
of your eyes' performance and health. Ask for a complete list of typical tests!
3. Can I wear contact lenses?
Most everyone can now wear contact lenses! Our office caters to
"cowards" whom
have never before been successful with contacts. We will help you deal with the
nominal nervousness of inserting, removing and caring for lenses. We also cater to financial
cowards who fear losing money for contacts they do not want. Here's how it works: After
your eye health exam, we can evaluate your eyes for contact lenses and insert diagnostic
lenses. lf you wish to wear them home, we will have you fully trained on the care of your
new lenses. We will then ask you to commit financially, assuming that you w ill be a grand
success with lenses! We will give you a starter kit of solutions and will see you back in
about a week.
4. What do contact lenses cost?
Tough question! There are so many varieties of ocular conditions and lenses to best
meet each person's needs. Again, your first year will be the most involved due to the
needed expertise of our doctors and staff, the training and retraining, the re-evaluations
and follow-up evaluations. The various "professional fees" reflect the quality
of our experience and services to properly prescribe your contact lenses. Expect a
reduction of $50 to $100 in your fees the second year!
5. What if I decide I do not want to keep wearing contact lenses?
We will applaud your efforts and will simply collect your supplies for a refund of most
all of your investment!! The eye exam and $25 to $45 of the professional services cannot be
refunded: a very small risk for what can be a wonderful change in your life!
6. How is a contact lens prescription different from one for eyeglasses?
